Part 2: December 2003
Well, it looks like the GTs next year are dropping back down to 2,000 points... and just when I was getting used to a bit of spending room on my army composition. Oh well, guess it's time to tighten the belt... On the plus side, however, it also means that I don't have as much to paint.

You know, I'm cheating a bit on the whole painting thing. I did most of this army for the Philly GT last year, so I have most of what I need already. The last time, the army was a bit confusing for some folks. I had Witch Elves and Wardancers as my Marauders, Warhammer 40K Dark Eldar Mandrakes as my Beast Herd and Dark Eldar Grotesques as my Bestigor. Ok... we'll make it simple this time � everything is a Marauder!! Done. That means I already have two units of 20 Marauders with Hand Weapon and Shield... so they're in. I also just about have 2 units of 10 Marauders with Great Weapons... just need to paint up a couple more normal troops to flesh out the unit. Have two units of Marauder Cav already done, plenty of Furies, and the beast that was once a Dragon Ogre Drake is now a Giant.

That just about does it, actually... leaves me just ** models to paint by March. I should be able to do it (you think?)... but only the last minute will tell, as that's always when things seem to happen. This will give me plenty of time to put together a super display board, however... hmm... what is Slaaneshi, eh?

Anyway, here's my new 2000 point list:

2 units of 5 Chaos Warhounds

I only have 8 figures left to paint, which shouldn't be too taxing. I need to do 5 Mounted Daemonettes, 2 Cold Ones to replace the horses on one of my chariots, and another Musician for the Marauders with Great Weapons.

Here's how I figure this list will run:

MAGIC: With only 7 Power Dice and 5 Dispel Dice, I don't see myself dominating the magic phase, but I should be able to keep it respectable. Slaanesh magic has some great spells, so the Level 4 will have a good list to choose from. I tend to take Shadow with the Book of Secrets � the Steed of Shadows is a superb spell to toss around an Exalted Champion!!

COMBAT: I really don't have that much punch in combat, and this will be rather interesting to deal with. I do have a couple of characters that can add some wounds, but I think I will still be hard-pressed to win most combats straight up. I do have a decent amount of speed, however, so I am hoping that I don't have to fight most combats straight up.

GIANT: Ok, I am not usually a big fan of these guys � they tend to just be victory points for the opponent, in my experience. However, they do add a lot of variability and just plain fun to the game. In all honesty, I just hope he's enough of a missile magnet to keep my chariots alive long enough to reach combat.

All sounds good in theory... probably need to get in a couple practice games. Don't want to embarrass myself too badly, eh?
