Summer Escalation League Rules

Postby elrodogg » Mon May 13, 2013 9:54 pm

This summer, the Warmonger Club will host a 40k Escalation league. The goal and format of this league is to encourage new players to get into 40k and to learn the basic rules, while also allowing for more experience players to get the ball rolling on a new army. Note that while painting isn’t required, but it is encouraged and ultimately rewarded.

The league shall begin Saturday, June 1 and shall run to Saturday, September. During the calendar month of June, armies shall be 500 points. Then during July, armies shall be 850 points. During the final segment of the league, August through the first week of September, armies shall be 1200 points. See below for army composition and gameplay rules.

Each week, report on the results of your games to this forum. Feel free to play as many games as you want during each month. However, you cannot play the same person more than twice in a given month. I will keep track of all results. Based upon winning percentages, top players each month will be determined. There is a minimum requirement of 4 games per point level to be included in the monthly rankings (ties will be based on number of wins, draws will not count)… e.g. (Ronen is 4-2 and Arash is 8-4 then Arash wins the tie breaker as he won more games).

Overall results will be determined based upon monthly ranking of top players. To be considered in the overall ranking, you must complete 4 games at each point level. I will then recalculate monthly ranking among all players who completed the league. Players will then get 1 point per rank at each level with the goal of having as few points as possible. For example, Ronen finishes 2nd in month 1, 1st in month 2 and 4th in month 3, he will have 7 points. Jarrett finishes 1st in month 1, 3rd in month 2 and 2nd in month 3 for a total of 6 points. Jarrett would finish ahead of Ronen because he has fewer points.

Stratagems, aka bonus rules, will be available to players who finish painting their armies each month. Upon reaching painting goal, I will email or physically give you a list of 3 stratagems to choose from. Each will have its own rules for use (if this is being done by email then you should inform me which you are selecting). These may range from powerful one-use only powers, to a constant, albeit weaker, bonus for the month. Painting stratagems may not be carried over from month to month. So get your painting done early and use your strategery!

Stratagems will also be available to these top players based upon their results. The number of these stratagems that are available will be based upon the number of players participating. Top players each month will get to choose from a list of stratagems in descending order (so if there are 4 top players each month, then the top ranked player will pick one, the second will pick among the remaining 3, etc.).

You would go across the tracks instead of down the river.
