Emailed GW's FAQ team about banshees

Postby The Gunslinger » Tue Jun 18, 2013 6:07 am

I emailed the following to GW's FAQ team at Gamefaqs@gwplc.com.

Subject: Howling Banshees fix

Hello.

Please forgive the question below as it's tongue in cheek. :) I truly believe this will quell the complaints about banshees not being playable when compared to other units within or without the codex.

Codex: Eldar
Q: GW, do you want to sell Howling Banshees models again during this codex's existence?

A: Yes, add onto the Acrobatic rule the following text: "Their save counts as an armor, invulnerable, or cover save, as decided by the owning player. Also, before rolling saves, the owning player may choose to reroll failed saves. If so, they do not receive +1 A for charging in that game turn. If they choose to reroll saves while already locked in assault, instead, the enemy counts as inflicting no more than 1 additional wound for combat resolution purposes, due to the focus asserted by the banshees."

Also, add onto the rules for the Banshee Mask: "They also count as having assault grenades & may reroll 1's to wound during every assault phase."

Thanks for your time!

After reading post after post on BoLS complaining about banshees, I figured it was better to goto a group that could actually do *something* about it, instead of preaching to the choir. :) I got that email from BoLS's thread about submitting FAQ suggestions. GW took them seriously and gave them that email.

Whether they'll make a change, who knows but at least I phrased it in terms they care about: selling models. :)

Other than obviously needing Assault Grenades in order to be even slightly useful, adding another complicated special rule to the codex isn't what Banshees need.

Banshees needed the Serpent Shield to be a short ranged effect that turned Serpents into an Assault Vehicle for the turn it fires. That's how they worked back in the distant ancient days, and it's exactly what a lot of eldar units needed - and didn't get.

This is just begging for a complicated bandaid that doesn't solve the actual issue.

Easier fix.

Banshees treat all vehicles as assault vehicles.

Add plasma grenades.
