New general Rule Book FAQ...

Andy on Lou's 300-inspired foray into Ancients:
"And remember Lou, Historicals people go nuts over historical accuracy. Therefore it's critically important you quote the movie with that accent as much as possible while playing every game."

Interesting... Doesn't really answer a bunch of the questions out there but it's better than nothing.

Thank god I'll never have to argue the "penetrating a skimmer in HtH" thing again. I really feel like a dick whenever I have to explain that to someone, and I'm sure it affects my sportsmanship score and their enjoyment of the game.

Well, it looks like they cinched my plasma cannon vs swarms question and it turned out in my favor, hooray! 1 wound kills two bases!

Wow, I'm impressed that they just did this! Looks like my snide comment in the other section is unnecessary. Well, only partly -- it took them how many years to do this? Keep it coming!

Am I nuts or did they still forget to tell us how ordnance weapons determine wounds.

Some interesting rulings here.

I notice that rapid-fire weapons don't kill models beyond 12" now if they shoot twice. That makes it possible to use rapid-fire weapons to clear out everybody within 12" to prevent an assault.

Also it's finally in print that assaulting a fast-moving skimmer can still only glance.

What other rulings do people think will have a significant impact on the game?

I hated the process that I had to go through with my falcons almost every game, it went something like this:

Opponent: I assault the rear of your falcon, two penetrating hits.
Me: No, you can't penetrate a skimmer in HtH if it moved over 6".
Opponent: Yes you can, you're thinking of shooting, not assaulting.
Me: *Sigh* Here, see how the "clarification" for the Eldar codex says that Haywire grenades cannot penetrate skimmers in HtH? That loosely implies that nothing can penetrate skimmers in HtH.
Opponent: No it doesn't, it's about grenades, that doesn't count.
Me: Yes it does, read it again.
Opponent: I hate you...
Me: *sigh* I know...

Other than the Ordinance issue, I'm actually impressed with this FAQ.

Especially because it embarasses the morons that wrote the UKGT FAQ.

The scout ruling must be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Basically if your unit has scout, it can be deployed as a scout, but it's transport comes in separately during escalation. That's absolutely retarded. :|

That's not exactly what it says.

It allows you to choose between either deploying the unit as Scouts and leaving the transport in Reserves, or letting the whole unit go into Reserve.

Without the transport having the Scout rule, I can't think of any more flexible ruling they could have given them.
