Plus, as per Jervis's latest WD article that one of the reasons (the main reason?) they're taking a "no rule corrections" policy, is that not everyone will have access to them. Then why have FAQ's at all? By their logic, not everyone will have access to them either, which is flat out wrong.

Ay, there's the rub. To admit to some rules corrections via FAQs, and make them official, is to admit the existence, and thus the necessity, of internet access in the provision of official rulings. To turn around and say that a total revision is not realistic due to the unavailability of universal internet access thus invalidates their reasoning for putting them out in the first place.

These guys need to shit or get off the pot. Not to be cheesy, but the internet is such a powerful and useful tool, especially in cases like this. It also reveals a startling ignorance on their part of the lifestyles of their player base: the vast majority of people who play Fantasy/40K -- hell, tabletop of ANY variety -- have access to the internet not by dint of age, but because of the synergetic nature of this hobby with the clubbishness and clannishness of internet message boards and other hobby sites (to say nothing of income -- anyone who can afford this increasingly-expensive hobby can probably hand over the $25 a month for high-speed internet and not go broke, whether you're speaking of independent-earning players or kids whose parents buy the majority of the materials).

Do the GW stores distribute printed FAQs? They should if they don't. They should be available in hardcopy wherever they sell rulebooks.

or have another opportunity to get some more money with a small FAQ book like they used to (what the hell were they called ?)

It is utterly rediculous to use a universal accessibilty cop out like that

Chapter Approved used to have a bunch of rules corrections in addition to new rules. But it seems like a more expensive option -- if they stuck to an internet-FAQ-policy, they'd avoid the cost associated with a largish publication like CA.

I agree. It's not cheap to publish the CA books, nor to keep up with them as a player.

I think that the game company that harnesses the power of the internet will be the company that sinks GW

"harness power of internet"

I feel that privateer press has accomplished this to a certain extent. Their official forum is quite the model of an ideal online community. Amazingly everyone abides by a level of decorum there, and there are actually competent staff who are dedicated to resolving rules dispute fairly.

should check it out.
