I think proxying stuff that does not have a model should be ok , but with a model that catches the feel of the crew member it is standing in for . Like the gunslinger you use for the convict gunslinger .

Gunslinger is from Book 1. Book one proxying is of course not an issue, as its easy enough to know whats what. Its more the Nekima-turning-two-tots-into-mature-Nephs-turn-1 type things, where everything is proxied of course, that I am concerned with.

Personally I don't see the need to "proxy" anything for a skirmish campaign.

If you don't want to buy the real models just convert up something appropriate and intuitive.
