Aha, MTG on Warmongers forum???? its a 1st since Ive been here...lol

Daggy let me tell you, you say casual now but once you feel the POWER you will be selling of your Warhammer bits to by singles..garanteed..lol
I suggest getting the starter kit, 1 preconstruct & a 60 card box set (for the mana) & 2-3 boosters. this should net you 2 solid decks & a bunch of spares for sidebaording.
I started with Blue & White & is a great "control" style of play with a tint of protection. the 5 colors represent: Control/Permission=Blue, Protection/Reinforcecement
=White, Stompy/Swarm=Green, Direct Damage/Haste=Red & Conjuration/Necromancy=Black.

I have played MTG since 1995 & have almost every card out there so if your ever in Brooklyn feel free to drop by.
& Jarrett LMK when your next Magic session is, I'd love to come by & play a few.

Yeah, I experienced the literal opposite. I was so tired of the cycling decks, the constant "new hotness" and limited deck builds that I went to miniature wargaming. I haven't looked back despite some similarities rearing their head now and again.

My son has been playing with friends in high school , back in the day I was big in the tourny scene . I built him a red burn to play since its always a deck that competes , is easy to learn and is one of the cheapest builds , red burn usually consists of mostly commons and uncommons with few rares .
Would you rather pew pew pew pew or chic chic BLAM !!! chic chic BLAM !!!!

Magic The Gathering, need some advice

Thanks for the input but I already started building blue white, got the 2011 core set and the 2011 blue/white starter deck "power of prophecy". I also had an amazon gift card so I got a bunch of the uncommon/rares I was missing. At this point I just need a handful more misc cards and the really rare ones, ie planeswalkers and titans, which I'll probably just sub out for other creatures for a while.

Well, at $80-$110 a pop, no. I'm going to build around jace beleren and sun/frost titans (muuuuch cheaper). I'll proxy JtMS gladly, but will never own him.

I can imagine that the tournament scene is rampant with that kind of craziness. Card stock + photo printer = profit
