List Collection

Postby WickerNipple » Tue May 12, 2009 8:56 pm

I've seen lists pop up in several different discussions -- It would be valuable to have them all in one place.

I'd be best if discussion about other people's lists was limited, this isn't the place for accusations of cheese or fluffybunnyness - it's a way to see what folks will bring to the table, and how that evolves into some sort of standard list.

Please feel free to discuss the lists you place here, motivations and reasons for playing with the army.

Also please note if you are a Chaos Dwarf player. Those of us who see Chaos Dwarfs simply as opponents tend to fear the worst. ;)

For example:

I don't own a Chaos Dwarf army and probably never will, but the unique magic phase is new-ish and appealing for its novelty, so unless it totally sucks, a lot of folks will flock to it because it's a new toy to play with.

As a TK player, I know that magic phases based around auto-casts really come down to just one component - how many automatic casts can you get off per phase, and how many of those can your opponent safely ignore?

So knowing the army lives and dies around # of casts, I'd stack as many as stuntily possible. Which is quite a lot. My TK are jealous.

I'd fill out the list with shooting components that compliment the magic phase, plenty of disposables, and a few counter charge units. The rabble are especially useful as they ignore Hobgoblin panic, allowing you to set all sorts of traps. These traps prove even nastier than they usually would because of a potential two Doomroars - which is especially good after a few turns of lowering character leadership with two different bound casts.

High Priest, 2 Scrolls, Bullhorn of Doomroar
Daemonsmith, Shadow Blade
Daemonsmith, Spellfeaster
Daemonsmith, Mindflayer

12 Chaos Dwarfs w/ Blunderbusses, Std, Mus, Stone Totem
12 Chaos Dwarfs w/ Blunderbusses, Mus
12 Chaos Dwarfs w/ Blunderbusses

21 Rabble, Std, Mus
20 Rabble, Std, Mus

5 Wolf Riders w/ Bows
5 Wolf Riders w/ Bows
5 Wolf Riders w/ Bows

10 Hobgoblins w/ Bows
10 Hobgoblins w/ Bows
10 Hobgoblins w/ Bows

Bolt Thrower
Bolt Thrower
Swivel Cannon
Daemoneater
Daemoneater

Earthshaker
Hellcannon

- 2,249 pts

In a comped or friendly environment I'd probably lose Spellfeaster Daemonsmith in exchange for bulked up blunderbusses and/or more fodder, but the basic approach would be the same.

I didn't want to build a magic oriented list, but rather went with a combat/shooty list instead. The idea is to force the enemy to come forward by throwing out 3 templates and a pair of bolt throwers. Once things get close they deal with a pair o unbreakable hellcannons or a static combat resolution 7 dwarf unit, fighty dwarf lord unit, 2 hellcannons and countercharge units. I certainly don't think it's the strongest list, but it does pack ranked units and the big gunz.

Here ya go:
Overlord w/ enchanted shield, amulet of hashut, hammer of hashut (1+/5+ him and his unit has hatred, s6)

slaver w/ 1+ magic armor, sword of might, bsb
slaver w/ gw, hexacon dispel thingy

24 chaos dwarf warriors w/ fc (lord's unit)
24 chaos dwarf warriors w/ fc w/ warbanner (bsb's)
21 blunderbusses w/ fc
5 wolf riders, bows, mus
5 wolf riders, bows, mus
5 wolf riders, bows, mus
5 centaurs w/ heavy armor
5 centaurs w/ heavy armor
death rocket
2 bolt throwers
hellcannon
hellcannon
Fast, like kittens with jetpacks.

I came up with the following in an attempt to take no "wizards":

Overlord - Hell Armor, Shield, Great Weapon = 204
Slavemaster - BSB, Armor of Gazhrakh, Hexacon of Hashut, Great Weapon = 144

-- These 2 go with the big blunderbuss block and provide protection for them and Ld for the rabble and hobs nearby.

Great Horm Bull Centaur - Heavy Armor, Shield, Great Weapon, Amulet of Hashut = 150

-- goes with the bull centaur unit to provide hatred. I would expect to see this in every army.

Hobgoblin Big Boss - Giant Wolf, Light Armor, Shield, Great Weapon, Bow, Helm of Azgorh

-- goes with wolf riders or hobs.

24 Chaos Dwarf Warriors - Heavy Armor, Blunderbuss, Full Command, Waranner = 314
10 Chaos Dwarf Warriors - Heavy Armor, Shield = 90
10 Chaos Dwarf Warriors - Heavy Armor, Shield = 90
25 Hobgoblins - Light Armor, Shield, Full Command = 124
25 Hobgoblins - Light Armor, Shield, Full Command = 124
20 Rabble - Light Armor, Shield, Standard = 88
20 Rabble - Light Armor, Shield, Standard = 88
5 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders - Giant Wolf, Light Armor, Bow, Spear, Musician = 86
5 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders - Giant Wolf, Light Armor, Bow, Spear, Musician = 86
5 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders - Giant Wolf, Light Armor, Bow, Spear, Musician = 86

Hobgoblin Spear Chukka = 30
Hobgoblin Spear Chukka = 30
Deamoneater = 85
Deamoneater = 85
6 Bull Centaurs - Heavy Armor, Shield, Great Weapon, Full Command = 145

Earthshaker = 110

IMHO, the deamoneaters with a ranked unit make for a very tough combo. Even rabble can be effective with a deamoneater to brush aside enemy fighters before anyone strikes.

I wonder how many lists we'd ever see that have more than 3 units of CDs? I don't think I'd take more than 3...

tbh hobbos are easier to convert than CD, that's why I would only use 3 units of Cd...

Hobs with Ld 10 and a BSB nearby along with maybe a deamoneater or bullcentaurs make plain old CDs a bit to slow and expensive for what you get out of them.

If there weren't 3 units required, I highly doubt you'd see three units ever.
