Ok so the ‘new’ Version 4 is posted, you may download it by clicking on the link above.

Also, below are some notes as to decisions on some of the more sensitive issues. All feedback provided by the playtesters is greatly appreciated and helpful, so thanks to everyone contributing, please keep it up, we have just under a month to go.


MAGIC & WAR MACHINES
Given the Chaos Dwarf background, it made sense to have all the war machines act similar to the Hellcannon, as the Chaos Dwarfs ‘awaken’ their machines of war before the battle, possessed by Daemons. If we went this route, we figured we could not go with a new magic system as well. Since this is a fan list, we don’t want players to have to explain both new war machine rules and a new magic system with a new Lore.

As a result, the war machines act similar to the Hellcannon and the magic phase is ‘back to normal’ in a sense. The Lore of Hashut is dropped, and Chaos Dwarfs may choose from Fire, Metal, Shadow and Death. However, Daemonsmith get one random spell from a chosen lore and may cast it as a bound level 5.

SNEAKY GITS
Sneaky Gits have not changed (they were always meant to be 10+). They are a 100 times more effective than any Chaos Dwarf list they have ever appeared in. Are they are a no brainer choice and easy to use? No. But they have the tools to be a very effective unit in the hands of the right player. They are and will remain a thinking man’s unit.

INFERNO GOLEMS
There has been much debate over these guys on the boards. But this is what it comes down to: Golems VS Treekin. Treekin have a 5+ ward (negated by magic) and +1 I. Inferno Golems have +1 LD and Flaming attacks. Leadership 9 is a lot more effect than Leadership 8 and flaming attacks is really useful in today’s GT environment, what with all the regeneration out there. On top of this Golems have the option of shooting attacks and even getting a bound spell. So they remain 65 pts. We can’t and I don’t want, a Wood Elf player looking at a Golem and thinking they are better than Treekin. Again this is a fan list and we don’t want opponents thinking that things are unfair because it is not a GW list.

RABBLE
Rabble is now 2 points; they cannot score bonus points (i.e. table quarters, etc). The ‘Run fer it’ special rule has been dropped. Again I feel that it was just another rule that really is not need and another thing to explain in an opponent (i.e. oh, and this guys explode and cause damage if this happens…, etc)

HOBGOBLINS & DAEMON EYES
Hobgoblins come with light armour and shield for 4 pts! However their Leadership has been dropped to 5. This puts them on par with Goblins (i.e. Goblins have +1 LD while Hobs have +1 WS). This also makes sense in the background, as Chaos Dwarf Hobgoblins have always been described as more cowardly than Goblins.

For those of use interested in better LD and Hobgoblin armies, fear not. Daemon Eyes remain as addition equipment and they provide their wearer with +1 Leadership. This also fits the background well, because the goggles heighten perception and act as an insidious mind control device; giving a bonus to Leadership reflects this.

There are other minor changes throughout the list so please give it a good perusal.
