Summer World Cup of Malifaux!

Postby Guy In Suit » Fri Jun 25, 2010 12:59 pm

This would be a round-robin escalation league organized like the World cup, with the number of 'groups' determined by how many players we get. Players could play their group games in any order. As its possible to play smaller games in about an hour, we should be able to move on to the elimination stage quickly, at which point the SS count would start increasing!

I was thinking of starting up the second week of July to give those that are still collecting crews time to get their models in. 25SS to start.

Would just be an extra $5 one time payment, with the overall winner getting a Malifaux box, proceeds to help pad the treasury.

Thoughts? Interest?

I thought the Brother's Grimm style was really cool. Pick 2 masters, and 40ss worth of guys, then after you know what crew you're facing and what strategy you're doing you build a 25-30ss force with 1 of your masters

Granted not everyone has models for this, but I thought it was neat.

I was thinking quick 25SS games for the early rounds, +5 stones per round from then on.

Whatever you guys think is fun though, I just want to encourage people to play lots of games and get familiar with the rules so we can all get in two games per Thursday! :P

Picking two masters may be a stretch, as many ppl only have models for one crew. Maybe after a few rounds give you the option to switch masters if you like? Getting to pick your master when your opponent doesn't have that option can be game breaking.

I definitely think sticking with one master is the way to go until we know what we're doing.

Let's do it! I like 30 ss... good balance of options and quick game... Definitely like the bring 40SS and pick after you know the crew.

I'm definitely in. An escalation tournament will be a lot of fun. Group play guarantees everyone gets some games in. I think we should aim for 12 players which gives us 4 groups of 3 players each. Top 2 in each group advance after everyone plays 2 games. Then we have quarterfinals, semifinals and a final match.

I'm assuming Proxies will be allowed?
