4'X6' "grass" mat?

Postby VectorAWX3 » Sun Oct 02, 2005 10:36 pm

Anyone know where I can get one of these? Does the Strat sell them? Are there any model railroad shops in the area that would have them?

I used to buy a bunch of the wodland scenic supplies from them... They probably have in stock...

They also have them at the war store ... in a variety of colors

Don told me the other day that the Strat can order "most" things.

Geohex makes a real nice 4x6 grass mat. More expensive than the ones for trains, but they dont shed as much, and are on clothe, vs canvas. Make sure you specify color, as they come in a light brown, or a green. They also can come with or without hexes.

I had a grass mat in the past, and it did shead way too much. I was planning on spraing the back with adhesive spray, then pasting it to my foamcore 4X6 gaming surface, then spraying the whole thing with a dullcoat spray to harden it up. I figure that should hold it, and make for anice table without resorting to the paint-and-sawdust method which makes a MESS and ruins whatever you're wearing.

That sounds like it would make for a nice table. I'd even suggest after it's glued to the foam, spraying the top of the grass mat with the spray adhesive. Let dry, then hit it with the dullcoat. I don't think the dullcoat will be "thick" enough to protect it

Jeremy, make sure you "take your vitamins and say your prayers" so you can be a good, little Hulkamaniac and be healthy enough to make it in tomorrow with Nidal's mat. ;) Get a good night's rest too
