Car Wars, anyone?

I'd put this in the "Other Games" forum, but really, who reads that except for Bianchi?

Anyone down for some Steve Jackson Games' Car Wars (up to and including 1989 ruleset... basically, anything with 10 phases per game turn)? Rules are fairly simple, and the game is awesome. I found all my old Car Wars stuff when I packed everything for the move, and I've been itching to give it a few games.

Anyone interested? We can even move it up in scale to use matchbox sized cars (all converted with guns and minedroppers and smokescreens and such, of course)

I thought you were challenging the minicooper to a demolition derby against the zoundsmobile.

Not the beloved 'Zoundsmobile! (even though I may just cancel the insurance, turn in the plates, and let it sit in the garage till i get another 20 grand worth of raises so I can afford a city garage and be able to not use it here rather than not use it in Brooklyn)

 Do you still have the '89 ruleset? That was the shit.

Scaling it up to matchbook cars would be awesome.

Fear my gas burner ram car, motherfucker.

Hah! Gas burning ram car? Beware my metal/plastic armored hovercraft! I'll bring copies of the ruleset tomorrow (I have what appears to be most of the 1989 compendium), along with counters, arenas, etc. Going with random stock cars in a certain class is always a hoot. "Aw fuck! I got the reverse trike armed with nothing but minedroppers and smokescreens."

Dang it. I only managed to find about half the rules (the book is literally torn in half). The other half might be in brooklyn, it might now. I'll see if the the strat still sells the old rules. Otherwise, I've got the torrent and it's slooooooly sucking files up from the net. We'll see how that goes.

I was about to say, I bet we can find that stuff on .pdf somewhere.

If you don't have any luck, I'll look.

I did a bit of reading up last night, it looks like the preferred models are not matchbook cars but rather Micro-Machines. It's less work to scale up to Micros than all the way to the much larger matchbooks.

I don't have a paypal account or I'd take care of it -- but if you wanna snag this auction I'll split it with you:

or this one if you think we'll need more cars, but the car:cash ratio is much worse: (which is why it sits with no bids)

You need to convince the CS to let someone buy the copy of White Line Fever they had in the basement... I wouldn't be surprised if it was still there...

I got all the rules from the torrents on the web. It's a 50 something meg file for everything, so I'll have to figure out how to get it to those who want it. It even comes with a sweet excel car generator.
