I agree with Grotsnot. Cost should not reflect other books, but instead their own.

Personally I think there should be more dwarven core options, I like the idea for immortals although at those stats I'd rather expect them to be rare choices.

Making swivel guns attachments is a good idea, but it would kindda make the army very similar to slow skavens in many ways.

proposal:

in the lists we've seen thus far, everyone avoids taking more than the minimum Chaos Dwarfs. They need to get more attractive, but we don't want to build a pure gunline. I suggest adding in weapon teams options, 1 per unit, with options for:

swivel guns
bazooka teams
mortars (the tiny ones)

all with minor shooting ability.

and...

Chaos Dwarf Bezerkers
Give them frenzy and however many attacks. Cannot leave unit voluntarily. When within charge range, the frenzy forces them to jump out

that sounds pretty fun, and very interesting...

alternately, instead of as a Skaven weapon team equivalent, what if you do it thus (assuming we go back to normal magic):

Instead of upgrading to champions in CD Warrior units (but not blunderbussers)

1 model in each unit may be upgraded to either a Chas Dwarf Bezerker, Daemonsmith, or Slaver. Each acts like a unit champion in all respects, unless otherwise stated.

Chaos Dwarf Bezerker... 40 pts
Str 4 / 2 attacks / Frenzy. Cannot leave unit voluntarily. When within charge range, the frenzy forces them to jump out

I like that, Matt. The Slaver's a mite weaksauce compared to the other two, but *eh*.

Unit champions should never leave the unit, gets confusing.

GW's unit "champs are characters but not really" him-hawing is confusing enough.

Have the beserker give the whole unit Frenzy! Its not like with M3 your gonna get drawn out from your battle line!

Well, it sort of goes back to the idea of making different kinds of dwarves with the same basic unit. Maybe upgrading to a 'zerker means the whole unit drops their shields for an additional hand weapon and get frenzy, or something like that?

Guy (Andrew) I think it's similar to fanatics, no? We could just say he must stay with the unit, and must charge with him if he charges. That would clean it up.

Giving the unit frenzy seems a little beyond the ability of 1 bezerker dwarf to do. I am not opposed to adding a bezerker unit to the rules (they used to exist), but I think that would be a separate unit.

One last possible "champion" upgrade would be for the unit to carry a turned-to-stone sorceror into combat, who would grant some magic ability to the unit. Perhaps magic attacks, MR, some other close combat ability like re-roll 'to wound' rolls...

i dont like these ideas at all,

how about .........if you go normal magic, you could allow a daemon smith character to purchase, up to 2 weapon teams that attach to cd units (not immortals, just the cds) and give him a minor bound item, 1 attack and dispel dice, for like 70 pts or something, like a mix between a (dwarf/empire) engineer and runepriest/warpriest.

the CD berzerkers should be their own unit, Too many unit upgrades, (like some you mentioned) in Addition to the iron golems upgrades is much too wordy, and can be confusing to players at said GT's, who arent involved in thew playtest... my 2 cents

I really like the idea of champions doing something special. It adds flavor to a relatively eh unit, but should be somewhat balanced as you can suicide to kill the champ if you must with his 1 wound.

I like the idea that it only effects him though and not the whole unit, as that keeps flavor without going to much into the "my chaos dwarves (that are unofficial!) are better than your GW approved regular dwarves"
