CDs vs Beasts

Postby Hashuts Scion » Fri Jun 19, 2009 12:11 pm

I played against a Beast of Chaos army of 2000 pts.

The end was a solid victory for the Beasts. He had a Doombull (Slaughter sword) with 7 minotaurs, mark of Khorne, great weapons, 2 beast chariots, a chaos giant, a unit of 20 beastigors, 2 units of beast herds, and a unit of chaos hounds. He had 7 dispel dice and had a shaman has well.

I used a magic heavy (1 HP, 2 DS) army. I wanted to try a few new units (at least for me), so brought 3 golems (only once before with Eruption Gun), a Death Rocket (not used in current version), and a Daemoneater. Standard was 5 BCs, 2 units of annihilators, hob archer unit, sneaky gits, 1 unit of wolf riders.

He had 7 dispel dice, but I was able to get off at least one spell a turn (at least on those turns I didn

I do believe Hobgoblin Bowmen are going to be Min. Size 10, or it was proposed that way. Maybe try playtesting them that way?

If anyone wanted to abuse cheap speed bump units, they'd have done it already. For the same 60pts we could do it with 5 Wolf Riders or 20 Rabble, both of which are much better at being speed bumps than 10 Archers could ever hope to be.

No offense, but I think you're being a little overly paranoid here. 20pt speed bumps are bad but large blocks of 6 point archers with animosity and crappy stats are even worse. Nobody wants to use Archers and nobody will until they're either 10+ or so cheap (3-4pts) that the bows are just accessories to the meat shield like with Goblins.

but they'd be 50 pts, not 20. I think you're being overly paranoid. Every army has an option for a 50 pt unit, no reason CDs should not.

Every army except dwarfs (90), dark elves (70), high elves (90), and wood elves (96?).

Wood Elves and High Elves both have 50 point eagles! (But they are in rare...) DE can have 5 harpies for 55...

I think 5 wolf riders for only 65 is a pretty dang good deal. They are fast cav after all... It just seems odd seeing piddly little units of greenskins... 20+!

For what its worth, it was the unit of Hob Wolf riders, still with its original complement of 5, that were in a position to charge the general. Chances are I still would have been slaughtered, but it would have been a chance...

I also definately proved that chaos armor, shield and HW still does not equal 2 Great Weapon attacks. My BCs charged the beastigors. With 10 attacks plus the 4 from the hero, (I expected to wipe out most/all of the front row except for the shaman. Without GW, I managed to kill 1 and they still killed 3.)
