I had a game with some basic troops that didn't differ too much from an RH list. I played with:

Ashkelon Runeforger

although the daemonic engines rule for the CD warmachines raised some eyebrows.

how did the ES work in game terms? Did the HE player try to take it out?

The ES worked well - stopping the archers from shooting for 2 turns and slowing the silverhelms down so that I could keep them out of the fight until I chose to charge in. I kept passing Ld tests so the rampage ability didn't come into play. He used the dragon to take it out (although it took one wound off the dragon, the dragon was able to kill it and one of the crewmen, so I ended up booking). Still given the costs of units involved, I'm more than willing to sacrifice the ES and its companion BT to delay and occupy considerably more points of dragon and mage.

Cool, thanks.

Why did the Daemon Engines rule 'raise eyebrows'? I figure people would be use to it with the Hell Cannon.

Hell cannons aren't so common around here, and I've been playing CDs for about 14 years and they haven't been daemonic until now. It's new, it'll take getting used to, or a wider knowledge of the rules.

lol, I don't think I've fielded a Chaos army without a Hellcannon since Storm of Chaos came out.
