Really Larry, Ok let me explain this another way, we need more players, and if that means that we need to switch to 8th to get more people to play then a change needs to be made.

15 people is not a GT, And unless you plan on not playing anymore you

You're free to do whatever you want for the event, and I did not say "don't change it."

What I DID say, was that you should REFUND MONEY TO PAID PARTICIPANTS WHO WANT A REFUND if you're going to arbitrarily up and change the rules of the event.

I've already submitted a list, too. I suppose my list should be left unchanged as well? 7th edition, 8th edition, same difference right?

Don't act like I'm the absurd one here.

If the tournament had changed drastically, or even in a minimal way, it's a no brainer that people could re-submit lists, change armies, or get a refund. That really wasn't ever something under debate.

I didn't mind seeing some talk about changing to 8th, only because It was the only talking about the tournament going on. I'm not sure if that's because people are disenchanted with 8th or warhammer in general, it's summer, or some other reason, but signups are lackluster, trash talk is minimal, no ones asking questions, getting excited, talking about lists, or anything at all. It was nice to see some sort of debate going on.)

This grew out of a large group of veterans gamers desire to have a tournament in this format, I'm simply not seeing that interest this year from people. Hopefully people are just slow to sign up, and for some reason very quiet, and we get a few more people. I'll feel a bit silly putting in to GW for prize support for 50 person GT and then having to tell them we got 20. If that happens, I doubt we won't be on the GT schedule next year. Changing to 8th was one possible option to get some more people attending, and was at the time worth talking about.

That said, there absolutely isn't going to be a change to 8th. After a lot of reading, and a bunch of games, I've come to the conclusion that the game, while very fun to play now, isn't something you pick up in a couple of games, or even a dozen. Too many new rules, too many fundamental things that change the game in small ways, but really stack up. It would be a nightmare since the bulk of players wouldn't put the time in to get the basics of 8th down by the tournament.

So no change to 8th, sorry for any drama or misunderstanding. Now tell the slackers to sign up.

Ironically, I think that 2999 may be a standard point value for games of 8th editon.

And Nidal smuggled out a message to me through the Colonial boards. Seems he's in some Turkish prison on animal-sex related charges. Soon as he sobers up and the guards tires of playing with him, they may through him out of the country and he can get back to committing the same crimes in the US.

How can there be a crime if the camel can't testify?

When you're on stage in front of an audience of screaming midgets, and the camel turns out to be the local police chief's favorite saturday night date, things can get complicated.

I think I am pretty close to being an 8th edition rules expert despite never seeing the book. I think I know the new rules even better than my local Games Workshop employee after scouring the net for weeks. Anyhow, I can't possibly bring myself to play 7th edition even in the weeks leading up to 8th edition let alone weeks after it gets released. I have already begun the mind flushing of 7th edition. So, thats a confirmed 1 less participant from being 7th edition.

I know like the Chaos dwarf player here and the multitudes of others that probably wouldn't have a competitive 8th ed army that they would not be willing to play 8th ed. This GT is coming at a bad time to get 100% support from everyone, I guess. Next year will be awesome, however!

Wow. That's an AWESOME statement! And I don't mean that in a positive way. You realize that people who have actually SEEN and HELD the books have said that it's not a ruleset you can intuitively switch into, right? But obviously, they're not as smart as you. ;)

Anyway, I won't be running this thing next year, though I'm sure Mike and Co. will do a fine job.

7th Ed stands as the standard, with 8th optional if you and your opponent BOTH agree. I can't make it any more fair than that.

And get your friends to sign up. We need to hit 50 for those Vegas tix!!! (I'm serious... get on it.)

Anyway, back to the beach to look at titties. Black Sea ROCKS!!!
