Fennblades that need stripping

Postby Daggermouth » Fri Aug 12, 2011 9:49 pm

Ooooook. So, i picked up a unit of fennblades that needed stripping. I've stripped models before (metal and plastic), so I wasn't concerned. I let them sit in the simple green for a couple of days and went to town. Good God, is it PP plastics that are just a huge pain in the ass to strip? Seriously, the plastic seems to be stained by the paint and i can't get all the color off large quantities of the models. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a better way to strip PP plastics? I'm on the verge of tossing them in the garbage and ordering a new unit.

It's more likely the paint that was used or the thickness it was applied or the type of primer rather than some quality of the plastic.

Toothbrush em as much as you can and toss em back in the simple green for a couple of days.

Note, that the PP plastic is not polystyrene.

What works on polystyrene may not work on PP plastic. It seems to act more like the finecast resin. Simple Green, patience, and repeated brushing are the likely solution.

Ok cool. I'm priming them white, so I don't want to use black just for the hell of it. I'll just give it a few more passes with the ol' chomper cleaner and see how they turn out.
