Printing Decal

Postby deFl0 » Thu Mar 11, 2010 12:21 pm

Anyone ever done this? I think it's as easy as tossing special decal sheets in you print and putting them on you model, but I've never done it...

Anybody have any tips? Also what company makes the best decal paper for this?

ya, I've done this for my space sharks.

It works well, although it's not quite as easy as it seams.

once you print out the decals, works best for dark colors on light paint, although I think you can get decals with white backing, you need to gloss cote the sheet (basicly put another layer of plastic over the ink) like 3 times

also using the various solvents / sealers is definatly recomended as they can be a bit touchier.

ya, there is a 'microsol' and 'microset' I think, basicly one is a basecoat to put down over the gloss varnish, it sofens the decal and helps it stick, the other goes on after you apply the decal, which helps hide the edges and remove wrinkels, as well as conform to uneven shapes.
