Pete does bone very well - his plague bearers have some purty horns.

The plague bearers are tricky as they turn into bone but their is not line of skin to bone. It's more like stretched putty.

Anyway, I start white primed with a coat of bleach bone. Then I use a very watery chesnut ink followed by a watery flesh wash i in the deeper creveaces. Then you use a very watery bleached bone over the top of it all. The bleah bone is very transparent when thinned and is blends the different color inks undeneath well. I've also added watered dwon blues and greens during the ink faze to add some interesting colors.

In any case, it comes out very realistic with a great blending under tone.

Then against could go a totally different direct and go spectal skeletons that are green and gray or the blue and gray variety.

Well, other than the black or white to red/pink, the original I stated starts with bleached bone then the inks.
