W&N Brush sale at Blick

Postby Flavius Infernus » Fri Aug 12, 2005 7:47 am

The Blick Art store on Bond street has a sale through October 9th on brushes. Windsor & Newton Series 7 brushes are 50% off.

For those who never used one, these brushes (Kolinsky sable) are to painting what doorknobs are to going through doors. Read what Ryan says about em. They usually run about $16, so 50% off is a good deal.

Where is this Blick you're speaking of? Are you making a run? If so, would you pick up a couple o brushes for me?
Fast, like kittens with jetpacks.

Bond Street is between Lafayette and Broadway down by the Broadway-Lafayette subway station (F Train). I'm not planning to go--I usually try to avoid Manhattan as much as possible.

Also you may not need a couple of brushes--I bought one #1 size more than a year ago, took care of it as Ryan specified (no metallics, no inks) and it's still in perfect condition. One brush could theoretically last a really long time, and the needle point of the #1 brush is fine enough to paint everything except maybe eyeballs.

Very true.

I've had my W&N brushes for about 3 years now.
As pointed as ever.

I pretty much only use a 1 and 0 nowadays. And I dot things with pigment pens.

Yep. 2, 0 and 3/0 for me. And the 3/0 is only used for lining and eyes

I hit them up this morning on a spur of the moment day trip. What a feeling to get a $20.00 brush for $10.00. And the Excaliber of brushes at that

and my favorite quote from that 2004 article:

"Stop by in a few weeks for part two of basic techniques, where we will discuss lining, faces, metallics and everything else you need to know to produce a complete miniature army."

Don't rag on the King. His busy work schedule leaves him without a stitch of time. :p
Jaghatai, on the Pale Rider event: I hop on this board to post a simple NEWCC question, end up looking at some interacial lesbian action and watch a religious meltdown. You guys know how to party!
