How did you get the blood effect for your cult of the butcher's blade army? Inquiring bloody minds would like to know.

Well, if you mean the base blood, it's water effect, which they sell at CS, and a mixture of red, brown and purple ink until the color looked right. I might have thrown in a little paint for flavor and to make it less transparent. I just mixed up a jar of it which I use all the time.

The blood on the Butcher's apron is also paint mixed with ink, or pure ink, in various shades of brown-red and red, to represent blood at different levels of longevity. If you have the DVD of Gangs of New York there's a great scene where Bill the Butcher is wearing his apron, and you can see what dried and fresh blood end up looking like (of course, I went for effect rather than realism, but you get the picture).
