NOW what!?!

Postby Emperors Reckoning » Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:13 pm

I did it. I completed painting an army on a totally arbitrary schedule and I'm pleased with the results. Now I'm pondering how to approach 2010. I'm entertaining the idea of painting two (!) armies, one fantasy, one 40K. I'd like some advice as to how to go about it. Some anecdotal support on how long it takes you all to paint an army from scratch would be nice too.

I think you should do WoC.

There are less models in the army. When doing things in a schedule I feel as if it would make sense to do the army with less models first. This way you can "ensure" that you actually finish one army, as opposed to if you do orks and get burnt out.

At first I almost voted Orks, because I know you've had that project in mind for a while.

However, self-centered as I am, I'd rather you have more options for Fantasy to entice you to come to more events with us. Having two armies for Fantasy would make you a Fantasy player, and that's just downright better.

More practically, you can manage a chaos army with as few as 30ish models, so if you pain in the right order you can have a very functional army in half the time of Orks, then expand it to include more stuff you want.

If it's any inspiration I'm painting an army right now as well. I've sat down and painted more models for a new army than in years and years. I'm also always up for a painting session if you're available.

I'm down with WoC as well for all the reasons stated above. If you want a small but effective mixed yet small list which isn't obnoxious but can still beat things up, ask Luke2 (ToeCollector on the boards, though he rarely posts) about his list.
Jaghatai, on the Pale Rider event: I hop on this board to post a simple NEWCC question, end up looking at some interacial lesbian action and watch a religious meltdown. You guys know how to party!

Do not however ask Luke2 about tactics, as those will not be as effective.

Yeah Arash, its hard to learn tactics when you sit next to the table badgering ppl instead of letting them play their games.

I say do WOC cuz you can bang out an entire army in no time. With a dragon and knights you can make a legal 2250 list with what, 34 models?

The near-unanimous decision seems to be WoC. I'm on that bandwagon. I think it'll actually fit you better as a list. It's more straight-foward than lizards are and for a beginner player I think it works to your advantage to use something straight-foward.
