This was a topic in America a dozen years or more ago.

I do believe that there has been a number of times, even for Presidential oaths of office, that the person being sworn in brings their own favorite or family bible (old testament or new.) There are a number of versions of the bible that have been used as well. I seem to recall jewish members of congress being sworn in on the Old Testament.

Sort of ignorant to assume that there is only one "true book".

Also, I don't think you need to put your hand on the bible in court anymore. The argument from long ago is that you're swearing an oath - not quite the same as pledging to be part of the US "Civilization."

In court you are allowed to swear or affirm. Atheists generally affirm, though some religious sects don't believe in swearing oaths either
