I guess I misunderstood. In my first post I said there was little reason not to maximize shooting, and suggested a 0-1 unit cap for variety. You then agreed that it might be a problem, and said you were thinking of 0-2 for core, and 0-1 for everything else. I demonstrated that allowing duplicate core still allows shooting abuse (the skink list). You then suggested restricting skirmishers, which doesn't really deal with the initial problem I brought up with in the first place, only that one list I posted.

It's really not a big deal. I say just leave it totally unrestricted rather than picking on some builds. At 500 points its an entirely different game and we've all got so little experience with it we may as well give it a go as is. A narrative element sounds cool, though I'd also love to have a day of just straightforward small games (or maybe minor objectives). Don't get hung up on whether you call it a tournament or not, as that's besides the point. If you want people to take "fun" lists then comp it accordingly, otherwise let folks do what they want to do.

If you do adjust table size I recommend 4'x4' as it doesn't mess with starting deployment distance.

My .02.

Jarret, I was originally thinking no restrictions just to see how it goes, but I am kinding liking the 0-1 thing at least for special and rare. I was also considering no number '6' spells... Anyone else has thoughts?

I'm going to speak with CS today about reserving a date...

At 125 pts for Lords, you won't see any lvl 3/4 casters. The higher casting cost of the #6 spells using lvl 1 or 2 casters should be limit enough.

I agree with Chris. At the point level its hard to fit a level 2. The deadliest spell will be fireball.

I like the tournament idea as something different. My initial thought is to agree with Jarrett and go with 0-1 options for everything to ensure balance and variety, but I also see Kevin's point to see what actually happens with less restrictions at 500 points and adjust from there. Either way, I'll try to make it.

Best Regards,

Agreed about the magic.

I'm going to make a new post either later today or this weekend about the exact event details and the date. The date I think it's going to happen is Saturday, October 20. Does anyone know if this date is in conflict with any other major events or Warhammer tournament in the NY area?

Thanks.
