So, I am just starting beastmen and this is the list I am thinking about. I was wondering what people thought of the list.

But I am pretty flexible as far as marks and units go.

8 gors, 9 ungors- musician, champ
117

7 gors, 8 ungors- musician, champ
106

7 gors, 7 ungors- musician
82

5 gors, 5 ungors
55

3x Tuskgor Chariots
255

2x5 warhounds
60

Special
4 Minotaurs- Great Weapons

5 Screamers- 165

5 Centigors- musician, shields

Looks like an average build. It might be hard to protect your characters. Are they riding in chariots? If your going to put them in herds 17 might not be enough as they panic easy. Good mix of units overall and you did not over do it on the magic. From a comp stand point it looks good.

Beasts took a big hit in 7th. What do you plan to ambush?
Other than that it looks fast.

Unfortunately the beast book doesn't allow marked characters to go in chariots.

And only lords can do so as well.

So far the 17 herd has been fine, but I might take you up and up them. Maybe like 24-25? I have never really used big beast herd units before though, not sure how effective they would be.

The games where I have ambushed I usually do it with the 5/5 squad and the 7/8 squad (just because they have a foerender)

Right on the chariots. You should try ambushing the hounds as well. As a wood elve player I think you should up the Herds. Think Hail of Doom Arrow turn 1 plus some glade guard fire and the Herd with the Characters is taking a panic test and that could be a wrap. Also check out...

You should be able to get some good advice there as well.

From my experiences, 5+5 herds at 55pts. are an absolute no brainer best bargain in Warhammer. I might swap up a few of your configs, dropping champions in particular, to get more smaller herds in there. making most of your herds worthless may prove a solid strategy. Other than that, solid list

Matt, have you played with 5+5 herds in 7th? I haven't yet, but I'm concerned that with the new panic rules, they might be almost as much of a liabilty as a benefit. You'll have to be really careful how you place a unit of Ld 6 skirmishers. Anyone says "boo" and they could easily run back through your lines

yup- but I'm finding that the new panic rules are a liability to fleeing in general, and have just changed the way I play accordingly. So far, so good. having Spawn to fill the same role helps immensely :)
