Lizards at 3000 points?

Postby mauleed » Mon Jan 15, 2007 12:27 am

So assuming the first Lord is a 2nd gen slann, what would your second lord choice be in 3000 points, assuming that there's no subjective comp?

(This would be for the Adepticon Escallation tournament).

It really depends on what else you're putting in the list.

1-Carnosaur goes really well with a couple of stegadons, but you're already down one hero slot from the slaan.

2-Personally, I would probably go with the jaguar oldblood. Be sure to give him the mark of immune to psych so he can't be autobroken by fear and he can hold down just about any unit on his own assuming he has a magic weapon (sword of might or sword of +1 strength, no saves).

3- If you're going salamander heavy, then go balls to teh wall magic and back him up with another slaan. Two slaans, 2 fast fighty saurus charachters along with 3 units of salamanders plus assorted skinks, kroxigors and terradons is simply nasty. In a no comp environment, it's certainly the mean way to go. Disengagement shooting/magic m6+ army.

Knowing you Ed, go with number option 3. ;)

I painted my first lizard last night. Only ~70 to go, so it's doable.

I tested them Friday, and I liked the way it played. It's a much stronger list than my greenskins. And if I have to fly out, it fits in a single carry on.

Initially, I would say yes. However, I don't have the book with me, so I am not sure.

However, I would also venture to say... why?

I've almost always found the slaan better on his own (I equipped by 2nd gen with a bsb and warbanner meaning vs anything he's got outnumber on he's has a static combat res of 3). So he'll beat almost any enemy charachter on foot in cc. He breaks ranks. He greatly enjoys charging chariots, peg riders, and anything else that isn't a fear/terror causer that outnumbers him.

I would definitely take the Jaguar Old Blood as second Lord.

He's a universal problem solver against so many things in the game.

4 actually (banner, bsb, outnumber, warbanner)

Andy: would you take him on the carnisaur or on foot?

Andy takes him on foot, as would I. The lack of 360 LOS, the slower movement and the ability to goad it after the carnosaur goes frenzy are all non-andy style approaches to list building.

The carnosaur isn't the optimal way to field the charachter by far. That the carnosaur also takes up a hero slot reinforces this.

The carnosaur however is alot of fun, especially when he's hanging out with stegadons, kroxigors and saurus heroes.
