Mounted Character in Infantry unit question

Postby -Galladorn » Sun Dec 31, 2006 4:14 am

ok, I never put a mounted character in with a unit of infantry. I just never felt it was "right". here is my issue, how does a mounted character, 25 x 50mm base sit with infantry that are 20 x 20mm?

A: stick the character outside the infantry as followes:
o o o o o
o o o o o
o o o o o
o o o o o M
o o o o o M

B: keep the character in the middle of the unit, thereby disrupting the nice 20mm bases of the infantry?
o o o o o
o o o o o
o o o o o
o o M o o
o o M o o

thanks for helping me out with this one,
Karl

You can place him where you like. It's a little odd with 20mm, but characters can move freely within units.

Officers on horses used to lead infantry all the time, though I'm not sure how often they were actually in formation with them

A is incorrect. You need to fill in behind him before going into more ranks. In you diagram, it should have looked like this:

ooo
oooooo
oooooo
ooooom
ooooom

really: the 3 in the back should be centered more or less, no?

But you can't do that here unless you go:
x=empty space

xxooox
ooooo
ooooo
oooom
oooom

Yeah didn't notice the A). You fill in like a normal model in a unit.

Leah, you are correct - the men in the back rank are "floating", ie they'll engage either way if the unit is flanked
