750pts of core is not hard to accomplish.

Well it's likely to be more like 1200, since 750pts of Rare is, well, rare.

But even so, people with reasonably well rounded armies should have the models. And surely everyone else could borrow.

But apparently the wet blankets have spoken and the absentee authority figures have placed feet down. So that's that!

It's Clark and Nidal's GT, and Nidal is anything but an absentee! :P

Ronen - I wasn't thinking so much of the 750+ required Core, but more so the filling of the rest of the points while also simultaneously adhering to the Special/Rare guidelines. Throw in the inability of using Character slots as point-sinks to reach your 2999 threshold, and I think there are plenty of people who just don't have the models painted up to go. At the very least, I think it's fair to say that you'd be eliminating potential participants at an event of this points-level if you jam 8th down their throats 10 days after its release, and the guys who are paying for and running the event (Clark and Nidal, respectively) have to make the decision they think upsets the fewest people.

Undoubtedly, people will be disgruntled either way. :|

Here's an idea: let the players have the option of playing 8th edition, even if lists must be 7th edition legal. Could be fun!

IF you and your opponent BOTH agree, prior to the game, that you'd like to play 8th Edition rules, YOU CAN!!!!! (same as open-lists)

How about THEM apples?

However... don't come running to the judge over rules-arguments. He's just gonna laugh at you and dock you both points.
