Planning to come visit New York. Need some directions

From politics to poetry, if it isn't covered in one of the other forums and you want to share it with us, put it here.

We do play on Thursdays until 9pm and then head to the bar afterwards, so depending on how late your rehearsal goes you might still be able to stop in and say hello.

We also play on some Saturdays, but you'll have to watch this board to gauge if there's any interest that week.

The gaming space (in the basement) is only open during those times, but otherwise the strat is open Mon-Sat in the 10-6 range except their late night on Thursdays. They are closed Sundays.

The Compleat Strategist is very close to Times Square - it's located at 11 East 34th Street between 5th Ave & Madison - about a ten block walk from Times Sqare. It's less than a block away from the Empire State Building which you should be able to see from just about anywhere in the city so just aim for that from your hotel door.

Subway map is here: http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm The closest subway stops to CS are either "34th St Herald Square" on the BDFMNQR trains or "33rd St" on the 6.

Note that while easy to use, the MTA Map is horribly not to scale, and makes things in midtown look much farther apart than they are. For an interesting comparison, here is the NYC subways system to scale:

As you can see the Strat and Times square are not as far apart as they appear!

Any service booth can give you a map of the system. The Compleat Strategist is on 33rd St, just East of the Empire State Building. The ESB is on 5th Ave, between 34th st and 33rd.

Thanks for the subway map.

I will, hopefully, visit the Compleat Strategist on Thursday afternoon. I can't believe it's hotter in New York than in Houston.

Just the bottom half. Remember it's legal to go topless in NYC!

Legal in Texas too, so I doubt that's much of a change for him.

By the way, is it feasible to walk 10 blocks in New York?

Quite. Bring a camera.
Jaghatai, on the Pale Rider event: I hop on this board to post a simple NEWCC question, end up looking at some interacial lesbian action and watch a religious meltdown. You guys know how to party!

No better way to go 10 blocks.
Fast, like kittens with jetpacks.
