Still need to finish the base, of course.

I like the marble/energy effect on the sword. Subtle. Banners came out good too. Cool stuff!

Holy Crap dude, you are getting very good Lou. I really like all of this guy. /agree with Jarrett on the marble and banners.

I want to ask if you have any hints on the marbling effect? I want to paint my dwarves armor (In Warmachine) and the 'jacks themselves like granite.

I have looked at this tutorial http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/infopages/page561.html and tried the granite effect at the bottom but it just came out looking muddy. I might try a white marble effect instead since a lot of granite patterns are really marbly looking.

Great job Lou!!

Thanks guys.

I got the effect on the blade by lining with codex grey, then a finer fortress grey highlight. Then on the flat part, I wanted to use shadow grey but I didn't have it handy. I did a 50/50 with ultramarine blue and codex grey, then a highlight on that with electric blue, or whatever it's called, and finer highlight with space wolves grey.

After I took the pic, I realized I forgot to highlight the golden rune hanging with the yellow ribbon from the hilt of the spear. Plus the topknot holder (I hate topknots!) needs highlighting.

Working on my much anticipated (by me) display board, which will include an attempt at a webway portal using an oval pic frame glass. It would need to have the wraithbone frame out of clay, or something, but not sure if I'll have time before NEWCC. Let's see. The extra hours of sleep I've been losing to painting have already made me start fighting off a cold. :)

Looks great! LOVE the banners. The gens could have used a line or two of orange/yellow rather than being just red. Try that on your next mini. But overall, very nice! Great work.
Jaghatai, on the Pale Rider event: I hop on this board to post a simple NEWCC question, end up looking at some interacial lesbian action and watch a religious meltdown. You guys know how to party!

On the gems, I used all 3 reds, but Game Color's Scab & Gory are so close to each other, you can't really tell the difference on the gems. You can see Blood Red in the pic, plus the dot of white. It's what I did on the rest of the gems in the army. I think I can still put a light slash or two of orange in there, just below the white dot. Thanks! I'll see if I can do it in time for NEWCC.

Still need to paint the sand flock on the bases and add static grass. Made some progress on the display board. Wish I had more time for it.
