What about something along the line of invasion stripes to give em a little pop of color.

Finally finished the scout squad! I heeded some suggestions, particularly doing the pouches brown for an additional color, and adding some brighter shrubbery to the bases. I've also gone back and adjusted the previous tactical marines, so everything's caught up. As I stated previously, these guys have had 8-point(ish) covers made out of green stuff, and converted compact bolters to give them a distinctly marine recon feel.

The Sarge with converted power fist. I took this from a terminator sprue and used some guitar string as a power cable running into the pack's jack.

As you can see I equipped him with a combi-melta for some back-field tank hunting. I had put off doing this until I was halfway through painting the model, then finally tackled it - I procrastinated the hell out of digging for meltaguns through bags of bitz. You can see I hacked apart a plastic melta, filing down the ammo section to combine with the nozzle. I had to move the ammunition for the bolter back to give the combi-section reasonable space to fit underslung. I then took two Super Tiny magnets and drilled them into the attachment to make the combi removable (for when meltaguns suck in 6th ed). Made 2 of them at the same time so I wouldn't have to rediscover how when I add a second scout sergeant.

Good job! The pouches make a nice contrast. Liking the combi melta.

On a second look, I think I may add some green indicator lights to some of the little button-things on their packs.

Not sure what's next in the queue, though we've been tasked with some vehicles so I may stick with the challenge. I found the scheme better suited to fully armored models which made this lot more tedious, especially with conversions. I may want to get all my scouts out of the way before moving on which would mean another five. Thanks for the comments!

Those are frickin' sweet, Jarrett. The additional color from the pouches really helps.
