Just like with the marines that touch of brown makes a huge improvement. I feel like it still needs more of that to break up the big flat areas though.

Jarrett these are great I love them. I don't think they need anything else as the big flat areas look fine and will stand out simply because you've left them alone and not added shit just to break them up.

Thanks Steve, and everyone else for the comments. I've refined my inking application a bit as it was looking streaky in places. I also plan on doing some designation markings in the future which should break up the models a bit more. Should have a new addition to the thread in the coming days.

Well folks, I'm happy to be posting some new photos so soon after my last entry! The days are rapidly slipping away before Adepticon and I'm honing in on the completion of my combat patrol force. This entry sees the completion of my first genuine tank, the Space Marine Whirlwind! Ol Whirly here wasn't slated for a paint job as part of my regular marine army, but it's the perfect addition to boost the firepower of my combat patrol given the armor restrictions of the format.

Funny me, I spent about ten minutes trying to figure out how to attach the tracks to the chassis before realizing I pulled out the wrong track sprue from my bitz box, and in fact had Chimera tracks. Using the right pieces made finishing assembly a cinch! Much of this tank was already glued together, so tidbits like the banner and double eagle on the front of the hull aren't exactly what I would have chosen to glue down in that space, but that's the nature of second hand models.

This was a great opportunity to experience my first paintjob of the ubiquitous rhino chassis. The Whirlwind missile launcher detaches allowing me to swap in a different weapon system and change the tank's role entirely, so in the end this is a useful addition to my fledgling force. All that remains for Adepticon is the completion of my second squad of Scouts to ride in the other one of those shot up, paint-flaked Storms...

That looks fantastic, especially all the wee windows.

Much thanks fellas. I'm hoping to finish up the Combat Patrol before Thursday so they can actually see action at the club!
