Game of Throwns

Anyone watch or have any comments?

I liked it and I'm a fan of the series. Supposedly the long awaited 5th book will be out in July - don't hold your breath!

I am a fan of the series as well.

Liked the first episode, it was shot very well. It was very slow, but that makes sense since it is only the first episode. I think that it is going to really pick up.

My only real complaint is that none of the kids look all that young, but I suppose that has to be forgiven. One thing I do miss is that they don't illustrate what the characters are thinking very well, but that is hard to do.

Oh! And Sandor Clegane could have been more scarred, he just looks sort of like a dude with a bad haircut and a goofy helm.

Daenerys is super hot.

Yes, I agree with you Arash but overall I have to say that the casting is pretty good.

No HBO, so I'll likely catch this after it's all over - but from what I've seen the casting looks fantastic. Theon is the only one that looks completely off to me from how I envisioned him. Joffrey = perfect.

I can't wait til they get three fourths of the way through the season, say they need to take a break to work a few things out, reassure the fans repeatedly, and then never fuckin bother to do anything with it at all for 5-6 years. :lol:

Also, this isn't horseshoes motherfucker!

Having already been caught by HBO and narrowly avoiding whatever legal drama that would have involved purely because of how awesome my ISP is... that's certainly off the menu for me.

I completely agree with Arash on the kids looking too old. Half of why you empathize with Robb is that he's so young and thrust into such difficult situations. They also neglect to mention Dany's age, but I guess they couldn't show her bewbs if they said that the character was only 13. I also agree about Sandor, he should be nastier looking. Also, for anyone who saw the last episode, I'm a little pissed that petyr tells Sansa about how Sandor got burned. It is much more impactful in the book when Sandor tells her himself. But, whatever.

I'm not a huge fan of the way they portrayed Tyrion. I never saw him as that "lannister", he just seems too smooth. I always read him as more gruff and blunt, not so suave and charming sounding. But, maybe that will get better as the series progresses.

I know that the series needs to wrap up in 12 episodes, but it seems like it's moving way too fast. They're brushing over important people, and leaving others out all together (Loras Tyrell in the tourny!?!?!?!?!?!). I also know that it's the nature of book to tv adaptation, but I'm not a huge fan of the "expositional scenes" that they're adding to catch the audience up on facts that are told in other parts of the story (the somewhat contrived feeling scene between cersei and joffrey regarding "enemies" and the bathtub scene with viserys and the whore about dragons). I'm sure there will be more as the season goes on.

Sean Bean is a perfect Eddard Stark though. Amen to that.

I don't think they have a lot of choice from a screenwriter's perspective but to make the kids a bit older. Modern viewers won't buy into a leader at Rob's actual age in the book and the whole Daenerys portion would just be child porn.

I've only seen the first episode but I really dug Tyrion's portrayal. Admittedly there wasn't too too much of him in 1, but he pulled off the bastard speech well and got his whore on.

A++ would dwarf again.
