Oil

Postby Guy In Suit » Fri Aug 02, 2013 9:55 am

I was thinking about trying out water miscible oil paints for my 40k army. I want a unique looks and something different. (Also the monochrome scheme I want to do takes to long to do well with acrylics.)

Anyone tried this before? Any tips?

Patty is the expert on oil paints in our house. I'll ask her what they are like.

I mix oil and acrylic occasionally (ie paint oil on top of dried acrylic)

The biggest pain in the ass about oil is that it takes a year to true finish hardening. so if you hit it with dull coat it usually cracks at somepoint.

Well you paint about 1000 miles an hour faster than me, so we'll see ;)

I am making an art store run for other things we are working on around the apartment and am going to pick a tube and play with it. Will report back with pics at some point.
