The Kickstarter for Wrath of Kings is up. Anybody planning on getting into this or have opinions on game play?

Steve, I have seen the minis in person and demo'd the game. The minis are great, though obviously the golden daemon painters working them up make them look much better than we could. Overall similar to Confrontation, I would say.

The game itself was fine, but did not blow me away. It did not seem to have the tactical depth of Malifaux or WarMachine, for instance. It played very fast, and stuff died easily. The "to hit" dice mechanic was unique, and maybe there were things not apparent to me in the demo I played that gave it more depth?

Having said that, the prices are insanely cheap. I like the minis enough that if people were going to get it, I would join in.

I do like the models. When did you demo the game? I heard they updated the rules from the demo version they released online, and I'm curious to hear how it's changed.

I haven't done Kickstarter before. Is there any downside to waiting to see more before buying in?

I demo'd it last summer at GenCon.

There's no downside to waiting til the last minute to buy in. Just overall, don't expect to receive anything in a timely fashion from a kickstarter. :)

The game was pretty solid, I played it with Matt at Gencon - but I hate how they still are having duplicate sculpts. It is 2013 - no dupe sculpts in a skirmish game kthx.

It's not quite skirmish level- you are expected to have multiple units of 10-12 guys. More like WarMachine scale games or larger. I can actually see this giving WHFB a run for it's money as a good army-scale game...

It seems, by evidence of the last few years, that warmachine and hordes are giving WHFB a run for its money as best army scale game.

it is, but you cannot really play an "army" of 100+ guys for WarmaHordes. This you definitely can.
