What up dogs?

Got this idea of a harlie themed Eldar/DE army to bounce off you guys. Everything will be painted as harlies, including the wraithlord, the 2 DE raiders with the harlies inside, the storm guardians, etc.

Please excuse the format. I cleaned it up a bit. I used Battlescribe on my iPhone. Highly recommended app, BTW. And it's free. The rare mistake comes up, like a marine sergeant should have A1 & Ld8, not A2 & Ld9, but it's great to make quick lists on the fly.

Eldar - main detach

Farseer with both runes & spirit stone that reduces warp cost by 1 - using the shadowseer model but with a sword.

Spiritseer (shadowseer with a staff)
6 wraithblades (swords)

6 rangers for early objective squatting

10 storm guardians with 2 flamers - they feel more harlequinesque with sword & pistol.

2 x 3 jetbikes with a cannon each - might keep 1 in reserve, depending on objectives I roll.

2 x 8 harlequins: 3 kisses, 1 fusion pistol, sergeant: power weapon

6 dark reapers: exarch: fast shot, marksman's eye, krak missiles - using the death jester model for the exarch. I think I can interchange his cannon with a spare missile launcher.

Wraithlord: sword, scatter laser & brightlance

Dark Eldar allies

Archon: agonizer, 4+ armor, 2++, drugs & haywire g's - can ride with harlies or depending on enemy, add to another unit.

2 x 5 warriors with a blaster (18" lance) each with raiders (d.lance & nightshield) for the harlies

Originally I thought about using the webway portal, but it feels so much like so much trouble so they can deploy a little farther ahead. The turn it takes to move up, drop it, & hope not to die, doesn't seem to justify it. Would make more sense to deep strike the portal turn 1.

Anyway, putting the harlies in lavishly painted raiders should work.

I feel like swapping the rangers for dire avengers would be better. I still need to look at all the objectives you could roll & see whether infiltrating rangers are better than skirmishing dire avengers with better firepower. I could always move & run towards an objective turn 1. I think I just convinced myself.

So swapping the 6 rangers gets me 8 dire avengers if I drop the 4+ armor & drugs from the archon, & marksman's eye from the dark reaper exarch.

I like the concept of the list! I've always wanted to do an all-harlequin army too. The big issue I see is that the raiders are deathtraps for the harlies. You've only got two - and they're your only vehicles. On turn one or two all your opponents heavy weapons will train on them and most likely blow them both up - they are AV 10 and open topped, and that explosion is just real bad news bears for the harlies because they have a crappy 5+ armor save and T3 - after half the squad dies in the explosion they'll be stuck footslogging and dying to more bullets. In my opinion you need to take a lot more raiders, venoms, and wave serpents for target redundancy, or just ditch them altogether. Now that the psychic phase works differently it might be worthwhile to re-examine the Shadowseer. With enough warp charge from the farseer and spiritseer you can reliably get that veil of tears power off which makes your Harlequins very hard to shoot. Also if you're doing an all-harlequin army you just have to use the mantle of the laughing god so you can include the Solitaire character (maybe on the farseer with jetbike or faolchu wings) - he's one of the coolest dudes in the harlequin fluff in my eyes!

Also keep in mind you need the shadowseer for plasma grenades on the harlies (unless you give the grenade launcher thing to the archon), and they can't start the game off riding the raiders...

Raider survivability is a definite concern. I was thinking that the nightshield taking 6" off the shooter's range would help with some weapons. If I had the points, I'd get flickerfields, but with a 4+ jink that doesn't get ignored by most shooting out there, I could save the points. Plus I can always hide behind ruins when I deploy.

As to not deploying the harlies in the raiders, bummer, but I can move them into the raider, then the raider can move as normal, including an 18" flat out. Next turn, if still alive move 6", disembark 6", & assault. Plus, I'm hoping to have my other threats spread out the incoming shots.

A lot of hope in that strategy, but the alternatives aren't clearly better. Webway portal has it's limitations, and walking them with veil of tears seems too slow. BTW, someone told me that DE harlies don't need to roll for veil to work. I could have a shadowseer in a DE allied harlie unit walking & an Eldar harlie in a raider. One or the other would work.

Yet another possibility is to go unbound and stictly use MSU harlies with some farseers and/or spiritseers on foot and have fun. Definitely would proxy that first.

How big is the second list you posted? It looks like prey to me. Like there is really nothing to it. Raiders are still fragile. It's a list that wants to do everything a little and therefore does nothing overall.
